After three successful albums with gqom group Distruction Boyz, Thobani “Que” Mgobhozi is making his breakout as a solo artist.
While talking to Sowetan Que said Distruction Boyz are not splitting and in fact his other band member and business partner Goldmax has also recently released his album.
“It’s something that we have been talking about for a while. For the last three years we have been releasing one album a year, so this year we wanted to try a different strategy to make our presence felt as more than one entity,” Que says.
While talking about his new solo album, Que said, “With this EP I’m paying homage to the sound that made me fall in love with music and ultimately become a DJ, producer and musician. I want to make music and perform until I can’t anymore.” Que wants to leave a long last-lasting legacy for his two-year-old son, Inathinkosi, and two younger sisters.
