For Africa’s number 1 female DJ, DJ Zinhle, 2020 has been, hands-down, the best year. For others, financially and otherwise, it may have been a tough year, but this Queen has secured bag after bag all year round. She bagged herself an award this time and it doesn’t look like she’s done yet.
The Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMA) is the premier annual music award ceremony in Namibia, honouring musical excellence in all genres, from traditional to contemporary, as well as paying tribute to the different aspects of music production, including engineering and video production. They declared DJ Zinhle as the winner on their official Twitter account after she defeated Sho Madjozi to grab the prize.
Since Saturday, 15 August, the much anticipated 10th Namibian Annual Music Awards have virtually taken place and are scheduled to end on Saturday, 14 November 2020. This means that over a full weekend, four categories were won, two on Saturday and two on Sunday since August, and the public vote for Best Pan African Artist of the Year closed back in May.
DJ Zinhle sent her appreciation tweets and made sure that her fellow artists featuring in Umlilo, the song that won them the prestigious award, were tagged.
