‘Durban Gen’ save Lihle Dhlomo from Quitting the Acting Industry

The new drama seriess, ‘Durban Gen’ set to premiere from October 5, 2020 recently announced its cast and viewers should expect to see talented familiar faces.
Lihle Dhlomo plays the character of Dr Precious Dlamini, as an obstetrician-gynaecologist married to Head of Surgery and womaniser Dr.Thabo Dlamini, played by Meshack Mavuso. Lihle describes Dr Precious as, “an ambitious, self-driven, strong-willed and a reference for the strong black women who want to appear perfect even when things fall apart.”

“What I love most about her is that she chooses herself, and that is an important lesson. She values herself so much to that her drive is something to marvel over because of how strong she is. Many women will relate and will see themselves through her and find healing by watching her,” said Lihle

‘Stained Glass TV’ is known to introduce new faces in the industry and according to e.tv, the show will be new fresh talent. Durban Gen is set at a prominent and notable academic public hospital, found in the township of Newlands East, in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

According to Lihle, the thrilling drama series is manifesting the hard work of essential workers and they should be held in a higher position than they currently are. That follows the work they have done during the uncertain times of the pandemic outbreak.

The actress has once found herself in a position of deciding to leave the industry, but Durban Gen happened to be one thing that stimulated her hope. “At some point, I wanted to leave the industry during the time when we were just finding out about the virus and things were now starting to change. So when I got the call I prayed really hard and even before the job, I prayed,” said Lihle.

This follows a lost opportunity of being a project manager for a company that does international work. However, the actress took the disappointment as an opportunity for a new door that was bound to open.

Be sure to catch the show on weekdays from October 5 at 6.30 pm, Openview Channel 104 and DStv channel 194.
