The new Telenovela Lingashoni, airing on 1Magic is only on season one but the drama tells a different story. The wedding episode had fans more excited with the series.

Mpumi Cele (Lerato Nxumalo) the bride and Donald Nondumo (Siya Sepotokele) the groom could not have been more pleased to share this dramatic blessed wedding day with the public, on the 21st and 22nd June.

During the wedding, Mpumi gets cold feet because knows the truth, that she is building her marriage on lies starting on the wedding day. She committed a sin of cheating with Mohau (her stepbrother), reason being she felt emotionally neglected by Donald.

She is not the only one that is entering this marriage with bad intentions. Donald is also not looking for someone to love and build a life with but is looking for a trophy to decorate his house and life.

“Donald is a selfish man. I don’t think that he cares about Mpumi’s reservations. He is the type of person who throws money at every problem, which is why he springs the wedding date on Mpumi,” Siya explains.

The whole wedding is based on compromise whether it is for the family or for selfish reasons. Mpumi is told that she must marry Donald because of his ‘status’ by her mother Puleng. Donald is marrying Mpumi to have her around for his own selfish reasons.

“Mpumi wants to grant her mother’s wish. Tying the knot with Donald will help Mpumi’s family climb up the social ranks, which is what Puleng longs for, respect and power. So Mpumi is willing to put her family’s happiness ahead of hers,” Lerato comments.

The whole series is about what people experience in real life and the sacrifices that people make to keep others happy. A lot can be learnt from just season one.

Don’t miss any episodes, watch Lingashoni on 1Magic (channel 103 DSTV) every Monday to Thursday at 19:30.
