L’Oréal Paris is delighted to announce its first local Walk Your Worth fashion show at SA Fashion Week on Friday, 19 April 2024, held at Mall of Africa, honouring some of the most influential local women across all industries.
Walk Your Worth comes shortly after the launch of Talk Your Worth, the locally produced L’Oréal Paris podcast aimed at cultivating meaningful conversations around self-worth, self-empowerment, and self-acceptance; and the announcement of actress Thuso Mbedu as the first L’Oréal Paris spokesperson for sub-Saharan Africa.
The much-anticipated fashion show is a first-of-its-kind in South Africa, mirroring the L’Oréal Pairs Le Défilé runway show held during Paris Fashion Week. As a celebration of women’s empowerment, L’Oréal Paris aims to pay homage to the strength and resilience of women worldwide. Attendees can look forward to seeing the likes of Bonang Matheba, Miss SA Natasha Joubert, Thembi Seete and many more grace the runway during the show.
L’Oréal Paris has partnered with Biji La Maison de Couture for Walk Your Worth, who will be curating unique designs for this collaboration. “I have had the privilege of doing what I love for the last three decades and am delighted to be collaborating with L’Oréal Paris and SA Fashion Week to bring Walk Your Worth to life”, says Biji Gibbs. “Each garment seeks to enhance the beauty of those wearing it, and I look forward to seeing all our models walk their worth on the runway this April.”
“As a feminine and feminist brand, we continue to champion women’s empowerment, and are thrilled to have women of this calibre grace the L’Oréal Paris runway”, says Ayanda Mackay, Marketing Manager for L’Oréal Paris. “We look forward to this being one of many highlights on our continent that speak to L’Oréal’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.”
Lucilla Booyzen, Director of SA Fashion Week, comments on the significance of the partnership between SA Fashion Week and L’Oréal Paris, stating, “The beauty of diversity is a core value of the South African Fashion Week. This is reflected in everything from the unique stories that inspire our designers to the distinctive quirkiness of the models that convey their original creativity to the world so eloquently. The commitment to mindful luxury as expressed in the L’Oréal Paris Walk your Worth is therefore a perfect fit with our vision for a kinder, more inclusive, global fashion culture.”
This remarkable event will undoubtedly impact not only the local fashion industry, but further amplify the message of women’s strength and celebrating beauty in its diverse forms.
The show is set to commence at 22:00 SAST on Friday, 19 April 2024 and will be broadcasted live on the official L’Oréal Paris South Africa TikTok page and YouTube page.
