The Soweto Festival Expo (SFE) recently re-launched its 37th festival

The festival that  prides itself as the principal event in Soweto connects businesses, SMMEs, youth, community organisations, consumers and the Soweto community at large. It is also an annual platform to celebrate Soweto’s richness, culture and diversity.

The festival will take place  around Soweto’s top venues and will put a spotlight on Gender Based Violence awareness.  The affair will feature a string of festivities between November 14 and December 5.

The festival kicks off on Saturday 14 November at the historic Vilakazi

Street’s Sakhumzi Restaurant where guests will be entertained with the best of Soweto’s  finest entertainers. Each event will showcase different activities to keep the crowds entertained to their best festival pick.

Some of the greatest events to look forward to include the Soweto International Film Festival (SIFF) taking place at Ster Kinekor at the famous Maponya Mall at a posh red carpet event. On November 22 guests can look forward to locally produced films and meet the directors and producers. There will be a series of Soweto movies, documentaries around Gender Based Violence, African movies, stage plays as well as Nollywood sessions presented by Mr John Chuka.

Music and sports lovers can all enjoy under the same event “The Battle Of The Giants” happening on November 28  at Sharp Jabavu Stadium. Guests will be spoiled to a soccer challenge contest for the 2020 Cup Top 8 and Maskandi vs Jazz music performances by various award-winning artists. On November 29 there will  be a monthly 7 Colours Festival which will take place at Soweto Theatre, where the event originated. On this day there will be food, drinks and music.

Maponya Mall frequents will be spoiled to four days of fun and a good food expo and tasting at a Soweto Food and Bev Festival everyday from 09: 00 am on

December 1 until  December 4.

Other events include a Soweto Golf Challenge, Soweto Awards and The Soweto Family Day which is the main event.The Soweto Family Day is scheduled to take place on December 5 at the Nasrec Expo Centre, to wrap up the festival with various artists performances amongst other entertainment activities scheduled for the day.

Ticket sales for all these events start from as little as R50 to R200 per person per event and will be sold at the gates of the various venues.
