Johannesburg based businesswoman Bathabile Moreki will soon be launching a groundbreaking perfume franchise, The Perfume Co. Africa that is expected to create approximately 195 permanent jobs and empower about 15 small businesses to scale up.
Moreki, who is famously known for trailblazing SA retail and franchising industries.
In an exclusive interview with JHR, the multi-award-winning entrepreneur revealed that most of the jobs the sought after fragrance brand will be creating is for the people who either lost their jobs due to Covid 19 or were likely never going to get jobs because of SA’s struggling economy.
According to Moreki, the fragrances market in South Africa registered a positive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.51% during the period 2015 to 2020 with a sales value of ZAR 4,878.50 Million in 2020.
By that, she was implying that her social enterprise will empower dozens of communities to participate in the mainstream, transform the SA business landscape and contributing to the economy.
The franchise model is reportedly being set up at different shopping centres exhibitions stalls across the nine provinces with the am to occupy 30 – 50 square meters at the same different centres from 2022.
According to Moreki, The Perfume Co. Africa’s value proposition to potential clients, Moreki said perfumes might be invisible but they can be the most dominant accessory anyone can wear. This means fragrance can help anyone leave a lasting impression when you need it the most.

According to some budding entrepreneurs and employees of the soon the be launched businesses, Moreki has put together systems, business operation and marketing trainings to make sure that they all succeed. The set-up of the centres is expected to take place from 1 October 2021.
