Molly Street from Zimbabwe and A Voz do Tambor Scream of the Drums from Mozambique, two brand new southern African productions will form part of the cultural exchange taking place at the festival. The Kaza Kamba Pan African Theatre Festival is a partnership between mehlo-maya (eye-to-the-sun) and The Market Theatre and will offer a four-day festival of theatre, music, workshops, film screenings, and talks curated by Bobby Rodwell and Lesego Rampolokeng.
Molly Street is a true life story set in the sugar cane plantations of Chiredzi in southern Zimbabwe in the 1960s. Molly escapes a child marriage and arrives in Chiredzi southern Zimbabwe. Young and unskilled Molly becomes a sex worker. Sadly, her boyfriend murders her. The townsfolk say that Molly’s spirit has been walking the streets over the past 70 years, as her spirit returns to find justice, creating an intersection between the natural and supernatural world. Recently, the Council took the exceptional decision to name a street after Molly, perhaps the only town in the world to do this. But is everyone happy?
Zimbabwean actress Chidochangu Jo Anne Tenga takes to the stage with musician Patrick Tembo. Written and directed by well-known theatre practitioner Peter Churu. The performance is in English and Shona.

Well known multi-instrumentalist traditional musician Vintani Nafassi performs with two actors Horacio Zacarias Mazuze and Rafael Michel Vilanculos, who embody the sound and engage the audience. The performance merges the boundaries between performer and spectator as audience members are engaged as participants not merely spectators. An experience not to be missed.
A Voz do Tambor brings together music from African and Western traditions, and features many interesting instruments such as Mbira, Djembe, Umtshingo, Adungu, piano, rainstick, and singing.
