Veteran Power Couple Scores A Big Radio Gig

Ihashi Elimhlophe and his wife, Linah “Ebony” Ngcobo, have scored themselves a radio presenting gig.

The pair will be hosting traditional music show Sishaya Ingoma NeHhashi for online radio station Mzansi Digital Radio.

The show goes live on Monday and will air on Mondays to Saturdays between noon and 4 pm. Ihashi Elimhlophe said the show was aimed at ensuring traditional music didn’t die in Mzansi.

“Our music will die if we don’t pass it on to the younger generation. We’re using this opportunity to invite the youth to listen to music, so they can continue the tradition. We sing maskandi music as we heard it from our elders and liked it,” he said.

“We want the youth to hear it from us and also love and sing it. The show will provide nothing, but traditional music for four hours daily. I think we’re perfect candidates because we’re big in the maskandi space. Everyone knows the Ngcobo family. We’ve taught our kids about the importance of maskandi and music as a whole.”

“We’ll definitely give our best and have fun on air. My husband and I have great chemistry. That’ll help us make the show fun,” she said.
