Nigel-born entrepreneur Zano Mnguni (44) started his hair care business selling just a handful of products on his social media accounts and delivering door to door. In no time, his brad Zee Afro Hair brand was loved by many and reached a high demand. Now the 100% Black-owned haircare, natural and organic hair brand for African hair is available at selected Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores across the country, and he is still as passionate about creating employment and restoring women’s confidence.
In less than a year, Zee Afro Hair went from supplying just five to 15 stores, and it is still growing. He has managed to put his foot on the table for more than 10 households due to his passion Our love for natural African hair led us to formulate a hair care range of products that help restore moisture, nourish, and stimulate natural African hair growth using natural oils, vitamins, and herbs to ensure your hair is strengthened.”
Like a daring entrepreneur in 2013, he left his corporate job to pursue his dream of being an entrepreneur.

“I saw there was a need for organic, natural haircare products that were not damaging to women’s hair and could assist in restoring the hairline especially.”
He spent time at a friend’s hairdresser assisting, observing, and doing some research before launching Zee Afro Hair.
He tried several formulas before finding what women across the country with natural hair needed. Working closely with a biochemist, he was able to open his own manufacturer workshop in Pomona, East of Johannesburg. “We developed formulas for the Hair food – which is enriched with vitamins that promote hair growth, nourish hair, and enhance shine. The Hairline Repair which is 100% natural, contains essential oils, herbs, vitamins & omega 3, 6 & 9 and stimulates hair growth for balding & receding hairlines. It also contains CBD/Cannabis properties that stimulate hair growth. We also made the Moisturing spray, the Scalp Mint Spray to help refresh, stimulate the scalp, and promote hair growth. The herbal shampoo is formulated to clean, nourish and moisturise your hair. It gives your hair an intense and refreshing wash and leaves it with a smell of herbal extracts.
Not to brag, but he said the formulas have changed many lives and repaired many damaged hairlines caused by a number of factors including the sun and various hair maintenance techniques, plaiting, and pulling of the hair which causes damage to the hairline. “We use what nature provides to formulate hair care products that support African Women’s Hair Care needs. The products are all about prevention of damage to and protection of African natural hair,” he says.
From selling online to supplying five Checker stores. Zee Afro Hair is now available at 15 Checkers stores across South Africa and still counting. He has a manufacturing factory in Johannesburg and plans to expand further. “We are about restoring confidence, creating employment, and giving affordable products, that are natural and do not harm people.
